ABSTRACT

Objective@#To assess the clinical effects of transurethral holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) combined with Jisheng Shenqi Decoction (HoLEP + JSSD) on BPH.@*METHODS@#This study included 110 BPH patients treated in our hospital from August 2017 to April 2018, who were randomly assigned to receive HoLEP (n = 55) or HoLEP + JSSD (n = 55). We compared the pre- and post-operative IPSS, quality of life (QOL) score, prostate volume, postvoid residual urine volume (PVR), maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax), average urinary flow rate (Qavg) and levels of serum T, E2 and T/E2 as well as postoperative complications between the two groups of patients.@*RESULTS@#After treatment, both IPSS and QOL score were significantly lower in the HoLEP + JSSD than in the HoLEP group (P 0.05) or the total incidence rate of complications postoperatively (21.82% vs 29.09%, P > 0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#HoLEP + JSSD can significantly alleviate the lower urinary tract symptoms as well as improve the QOL and bladder and urinary tract functions of BPH patients.

ABSTRACT

Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) transplantation has attracted attention for the treatment of liver cirrhosis and end-stage liver diseases. Therefore, in this study, we evaluated the effect of different methods of BMSCs transplantation in the treatment of liver cirrhosis in rats. Seventy-two male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 7 groups: 10 were used to extract BMSCs, 10 were used as normal group, and the remaining 52 rats were randomly divided into five groups for testing: control group, BMSCs group, BMSCs+granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) group, and BMSCs+Jisheng Shenqi decoction (JSSQ) group. After the end of the intervention course, liver tissue sections of rats were subjected to hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) and Masson staining, and pathological grades were scored. Liver function [aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), albumin (ALB)] and hepatic fibrosis markers [hyaluronidase (HA), laminin (LN), type III procollagen (PCIII), type IV collagen (CIV)] were measured. BMSCs+JSSQ group had the best effect of reducing ALT and increasing ALB after intervention therapy (P<0.05). The reducing pathological scores and LN, PCIII, CIV of BMSCs+G-CSF group and BMSCs+JSSQ group after intervention therapy were significant, but there was no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). The effect of JSSQ on improving stem cell transplantation in rats with liver cirrhosis was confirmed. JSSQ combined with BMSCs could significantly improve liver function and liver pathology scores of rats with liver cirrhosis.

ABSTRACT

AIM To investigate the clinical therapeutic effects of modified Shenqi Decoction in treating earlyto-middle stage nontraumatic osteonecrosis of femoral head (NONFH) due to kindey deficiency and blood stasis syndrome, and its impacts on serum TNF-α,CRP,NO,SOD as well.METHODS Totally,104 cases of eligible patients were randomly divided into traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) group, chemical medicine group and TCM combined with chemical medicine group,38 cases in each group, for a three-month course of treatment. The TCM group was dosed with modified Shenqi Decoction, the chemical medicine group with sodium alendronate, and the TCM combined with chemical medicine group with both modified Shenqi Decoction and sodium alendronate. The Harris SF-36,SF-36,FPS-R and TCM symptoms assessment were applied to estimating the efficacy of three groups before and after the treatment. So were the check of the serum TNF-α,CRP,NO,SOD levels, and rates of efficiency after treatments and six-month follow-ups,and incidence of adverse reactions during the treatment among all the three groups.RESULTS The efficiency rates were found to be in the following sequence:the chemical medicine group (76.5%) < the TCM group (83.8%) < the TCM combined with chemical medicine group (97.2%) (P < 0.05).The TCM combined with chemical medicine group had its post-treatment scores of Harris SF-36,FPS-R,FPS-R,TCM symptom and the serum TNF-α,CRP,NO,SOD levels significantly improved as compared with other two groups (P < 0.05).And the revealed incidence of adverse reactions was ranked as the TCM group (2.7%) < the TCM combined with chemical group (30.6%) < the chemical medicine group (70.6%) (P < 0.05).CONCLUSION Modified Shenqi Decoction is superior to sodium alendronate in the treatment of NONFH due to kidney deficiency and blood stasis syndrome for its better performance in both the efficacy and the incidence of adverse reactions, and its synergistic effect with use of sodium alendronate may associate with its capability in offsetting the adverse reactions of sodium alendronate.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effect of Shenqi Decoction on inflammation and immune reaction, immune state, restenosis (RS) after implantation of stents in patients with coronary artery disease, and to investigate its mechanism. Methods Eighty-eight patients with coronary artery disease after implantation of stents were randomly divided into the treatment group (45 cases) and the control group (43 cases). The control group was treated with routine treatment, and the treatment group was treated with Shenqi Decoction additionally for six months. RS rate, the level of hs-CRP, the marker of activation of T lymphocytes (CD3+/HLA-DR+), sIL-2R and the scores of blood-stasis syndrome and deficiency of Qi syndrome were observed. Results The RS rate in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group (P

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To probe into the mechanism of Shenqi decoction on inhibiting apoptpsis of myocardial cell in?duced by ischemic reperfusion.METHODS:The mice were randomly divided into Shenqi decoction group(high, middle and low dosage groups),isosorbide dinitrate control group, blank control group and model group. The Shenqi decoction group and isosorbide dinitrate group were respectively administered with drugs by lavage for5days while the blank control group and model group were respectively administered with normal sodium by lavage for5days.Except the blank control group the is?chemic reperfusion model of each group was made, then the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD),the level of malondi?aldehyde(MDA)of cardiac muscle tissues were determined;the apoptotic index of myocardial cells and the expression of apoptosis-correlated protein Bcl-2and Bax were analyzed.RESULTS:Compared with the model group, the SOD activity and Bcl-2express index have been increased, but MDA level and bax express index have been decreased in Shenqi decoction group.CONCLUSION:Shenqi decoction does have a good protection effect on myocardial ischemia and myocardial cell injury induced by postischemia reperfusion.
